Trends in Newborn photography change like fashion trends.
For 2019, I’ve decided to take more of a minimalist approach with my newborn photography. For years, crochet outfits, colorful props, and lots of oversized headbands have run the roost of the newborn photography.
I’ll never be able to completely give up the precious headbands and delicately knit bonnets for my sessions. I have. however, decided to take a more simplistic approach with my newborn photography. I’m changing my style to one that focuses more on the details of the baby. My goal is for parents to look back at their pictures and not see an over-crowding of props and distractions. I want them to just see baby. Of course, with a few cute enhancing dainty headbands or wraps… because who can resist?)
Patricia Anderson Photography is also in the process of creating a new portrait package for newborns. This package will include just a simple kimono newborn onsie with pants on a simple knit backdrop. These will be taking the place of Mini-sessions, and will not include any posing. These sessions will be micro-sessions that will capture facial expressions and the little details of babies. No props, just baby :). I’m hoping to introduce these to our package offerings in February.
If you’re expecting in the Chicago area, please be aware that I am cutting back on the amount of sessions that I’ll be booking each month for 2019. Make sure to reach out to my office manager, Melissa, to get your spot on the books to ensure I can get you in for your maternity, newborn, milestone, or family photography session in the Chicagoland area.
