FAQ

How do I book a session?

It’s really easy to book a session with me! Just send me an email through the contact tab, and we will get you set up! Your session fee is required to hold your date.  You do not need to decide on what products or digitals that you’d like to purchase until after you view your photos.  A la carte options are always available, and there is no purchase minimum.  Purchase only what you love!

When is the best time to book my session?

Our studio is usually booked at least a month out, but we do have last minute availability occasionally, so please don’t hesitate to reach out.  If you are expecting, we do recommend booking your newborn session as early as your 2nd trimeter, as to ensure we have availability for your newest addition!

Why book with a professional portrait studio vs. the gal down the street with a nice camera?

As an experienced professional photographer, I understand how easy it is to find a cheap photographer who can throw you a CD with 100 images that you like, but don’t love, and honestly will probably never print.  The CD will end up in the bottom of a drawer in a dresser that is completely forgotten about.  I know this, because I personally am guilty of doing the exact same thing.

It wasn’t until I became both a mother AND a photographer that I realized the importance of tangible products like framed prints, albums, and canvas.  I had spent literally thousands of dollars on “digital files” that were used on Facebook for a couple months and then forgotten about forever. What I love the most about my portrait studio is that your portrait experience with my studio will be person, professional, and catered to fit YOUR every need and desire.    I want you to truly be in the moment. I want to plan with you how I can make your photography session one that you can’t wait to decorate your home with, print in announcements or greeting cards, give as gifts to parents, etc.  I want to show you your photos, in print, and see how beautiful that new life you created is, so that you can hold that photo and feel your love burst all over again.  I would love to come to your home and help you design art for your empty walls and be a part of making your house feel like YOUR home.  This is why my client’s book with my portrait studio vs. a shoot and burn photographer.

From the technical aspect, there is also an extensive amount of work, training, technical skill, and editing software skill that goes into each photography session. The elements of lighting, posing, color and more are all huge factors to take into consideration when you’re shopping to make an investment in family and newborn portraiture. A professional photographer will combine these elements to create treasured works of art. Aside from using professional grade photo equipment such as a DSLR camera and the best photo software available, a professional photographer is experienced at handling newborn babies and young children in a way that is safe, playful, and will create beautiful images for your family to enjoy for years and years. There is a lot to consider when it comes to creating beautiful timeless photos, but a professional will patiently work with your family to make everyone look their very best. My experience and training has given me the ability and expertise to make sure that I am capturing your family and newborn’s best features, and pose them in comfortable & organic-looking positions.

When you hire an experienced newborn photographer, you know you’re getting someone who understands the unique needs of your little one. A newborn photographer has the knowledge and experience to create customized works of art, rather than generic every-day poses. I take the time to talk with you before your session to understand all I can about your tastes, style, and what features you’d like me to capture during your session. You will find that many newborn photographers have their own unique style. My style is simple and organic. View my newborn gallery for an idea of my style. It is my belief that newborns photograph best in their natural state, using window light and only a few simple poses. If you love my style, and value quality portraits as well as professional prints, albums, etc. contact me here to schedule a session.

Alright, I’m sold!  So, how does this all work?

I can’t wait to work with you and your family!  To book your session, you’ll need to complete my client contract and place your session fee as a deposit to hold your session date and time (Or due date, if you’re booking for a newborn session!). Session fees are required at the time of booking and signing of contract. Session fees do not apply towards digital files or prints.  All prints, products, digital files are purchased separately through your private on-line gallery after your images are delivered via e-mail.

Within 1 week of your session, you’ll receive a beautiful on-line gallery with softly proofed images for you to select from.  Your gallery will be live for 3 days after it is emailed to you, and all purchase decisions needs to be made in that 3 day period to avoid any reinstatement fees.  Once you have selected your favorite images for purchase, I will go through and throughly edit your purchased images and prepare them for your delivery!  If you’d feel more comfortable going through our products in-studio, I’m happy to arrange an in-studio ordering appointment, where you can touch, feel, and handle all the print products that I offer in my studio.  These will also be available during your session to view, so make sure to take a peek at our offerings!  If you are purchasing just digital files, the finished edits will be emailed to you for high-resolution download within 1 week of your payment.

My newborn studio is located in historic downtown Geneva, IL.  You can find our new studio at 217 1/2 South Third St.  35 miles west of downtown Chicago, IL in the Fox River valley, nestled between St. Charles and Batavia.

Does the Session fee include any digitals or products?
